Today’s military, returning service members, veterans and their families are facing a new and unique set of challenges as they transition back to civilian life. These challenges include difficulties faced finding a job or home, finding opportunities to continue education, and maintaining family dynamics, among others. These challenges and needs are all critically important to successful reintegration. The Community Blueprint is a national initiative featuring a set of tools and practices that provide a framework for communities to produce positive, measurable outcomes for veterans, military members and their families. Through extensive research, the Community Blueprint has identified eight key issues that represent the areas of greatest need and support for today’s military veterans.
Through our partnership with Points of Light and other local and national community partners, we will look to support these following key eight issue areas of need as defined by Community Blueprint through the management of coalition workgroups and county collaboratives focused on each strategy:
